Re-issue repackages double dose of early ‘70s Nashville sessions

Elvis Country: Legacy Edition
CD ($14.88)

In 1971, Elvis Presley returned to his roots with “Elvis Country,” an album of assorted songs that skipped across bluegrass, honky-tonk, rockabilly, Western swing and uptown countrypolitan. This new compilation includes all 12 original tunes, including the hit single “There Goes My Everything” and three bonus tracks, plus the additional album assembled later the same year, “Love Letters From Elvis,” from the musical leftovers. Together now in one collection, this double CD offers a fine snapshot of The King in his superstar prime, plowing enthusiastically into Nashville’s fertile turf once more before returning to the road and his residency in Las Vegas.
