Enter the graceful but competitive world of ballet through the eyes of executive producer, Sarah Jessica Parker. This behind-the-scenes docudrama reveals what it takes to perform on the ultimate stage, the New York City Ballet.

Parker says she and the New York City Ballet company have been working on the project for nearly two years, the length of time she’s been a member of the organization’s board of directors.

“I thought the real reason we go the ballet, those of us who love it so much, is this extraordinary company of dancers,” Parker says.

With the goal of exposing a wider audience to the discipline, athleticism, grace and vulnerability to injury, members of the ballet company opened their very unique life to cameras.

“It’s diverse, colorful, interesting, informative…it’s silly, it’s light, it’s a deep, very well-rounded crop of shows,” Parker says.

Ballet Master in Chief, Peter Martins, and NYCB’s company members discuss what it takes to climb through the company ranks.
