What happened to Johnny Sheffield, who played Boy in the “Tarzan” movies and starred in the “Bomba, the Jungle Boy” film series?
—Darrell DeWeese, Vallejo, California

The native of Pasadena, California, died of a heart attack after falling from a ladder while pruning a palm tree in 2010. He was 79. Winning the role of “Boy” over 300 other lads, Sheffield played the son of Tarzan (played by Johnny Weissmuller) in eight movies between 1939 and 1947 and said that Weissmuller was “like a father to me.” From 1949 to 1955, Sheffield headlined in a dozen “Bomba” adventure films. He retired from acting when he was 24, earned a college business degree and worked in farming, construction and real estate.
