‘The Face’ host got his start in modeling
Is it true that Nigel Barker, host of the new reality show “The Face,” was a model before he became a photographer?

Barker, 40, began his career as a model in the mid-1980s and got his first break from a British TV modeling competition, not unlike “The Face,” for which his mother submitted his application. “I actually didn’t win, I got in the top three,” says the London-born photographer, who was formerly a judge on TV’s “America’s Next Top Model” and recently released the book “8 Hours/Taylor Swift,” a collection of photos of the country-pop singer taken in one marathon day. “So I have always felt that I understand what it’s like, and I bring a unique perspective to the position I hold.”
