Port Hudson — Last Confederate Stronghold

Port Hudson State Historic Site in East Feliciana Parish (pop. 20,267) was the location of the last Confederate stronghold on the Mississippi River. The Confederates surrendered Port Hudson after a 48-day siege in 1863.
