What has happened to the ’60s group the Grass Roots?
—Chris Patterson, Austin, Texas

When Grass Roots leader Rob Grill died in 2011, he had already passed on the torch to the current group of players who performed about 40 dates last year. Guitarist-vocalist Dusty Hanvey, who has been with the band since 1984, says, “When we re-formed the band, Rob and I agreed we were not going to monkey with [the] songs,” referring to the band’s signature hits “Midnight Confessions,” “Sooner or Later” and “Temptation Eyes.” Performing the songs the way they were originally recorded in the late 1960s and early ’70s, the Grass Roots will play Disney’s Epcot Center in mid-April and perform at various fairs this summer.
