What can you tell me about Ginger Zee, who does the weekend weather on “Good Morning America”?
Tom Fredrickson, Rockford, Ill.

Orange, Calif., native Ginger Renee Zuidgeest was named after Ginger from the sitcom “Gilligan’s Island.” After graduating from high school in Rockford, Mich., where she was homecoming queen, Zee, 32, earned a meteorology degree at Valparaiso University. Before beginning her current gig in 2011, she worked at TV stations in Merrillville, Ind., Grand Rapids and Flint, Mich., and Chicago. “I chose this career because I saw a waterspout on Lake Michigan when I was 8,” she says. “I was mesmerized. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen.”
