What is the background on Erin Burnett of CNN?
—John Plaschko, Sun Lakes, Ariz.
Burnett grew up with two older sisters on a farm in Mardela Springs, Md., and earned a degree in political economy at Williams College, where she played on the lacrosse and field hockey teams. “Television wasn’t love at first sight. I’ve always been fascinated by international affairs,” says Burnett, 36, who considered a career in law and public service and began her career in banking as a financial analyst before becoming a writer and booker for CNN’s “Moneyline.” She hosted “Street Signs” and “Squawk on the Street” on CNBC before becoming the host of her own show, “Erin Burnett OutFront,” in 2011. In December, she married Citigroup executive David Rubulotta, whom she met on a blind date in 2004.
