What happened to the beautiful actress Julie Adams?

Born Betty May Adams in Waterloo, Iowa, and raised in Arkansas, the actress, 83, is best known as the heroine in the 1954 monster-mash classic Creature From the Black Lagoon. She also starred in the 1950s movies The Private War of Major Benson, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue and Bend of the River. She played the wife of Jimmy Stewart in his 1971-1972 TV series, The Jimmy Stewart Show, and once said “Going to work with Jimmy Stewart every day was my idea of heaven.” Adams was a guest star on numerous TV shows over the years and had a recurring role as Eve Simpson, the real estate lady, on Murder, She Wrote. Living in Southern California, she appears at movie conventions such as Monsterpalooza, held earlier this year in Burbank, Calif.
