Chlumsky, 31, left acting from 1998 to 2004 to earn a degree in international studies from the University of Chicago. Seeing Mercedes Ruehl in Edward Albee’s The Goat on Broadway inspired her to return to acting. “I had that visceral moment of ‘I have to do that’ despite all my efforts to not want to be in show business,” says the Chicago native. Since 2009, she has appeared in the TV shows Cupid, Law & Order and Covert Affairs and in the movie In the Loop. She now co-stars as Amy Brookheimer in the TV series Veep. The actress and husband Shaun So have been married four years.
