Folk singer Arlo Guthrie, 66, had a Top 20 hit with “City of New Orleans” in 1972. Still touring about 10 months out of the year, he says, “Music is good for the soul, whether you’re playing it or just listening. That’s what I love. I also love going from place to place and seeing old friends and making new ones.” Born in Coney Island, New York, Guthrie recently released “Rehashed 4:20 Sampler,” a three-song EP featuring his 1967 protest masterpiece “Alice’s Restaurant,” on Rising Son Records, a label operated by his daughters Annie and Cathy Guthrie.
