That’s Margot Bingham, 25, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, playing troubled nightclub singer Daughter Maitland. The actress, dancer, singer and songwriter has recorded 20 songs for the show and has released three CDs, most recently “Live at the Hazlett,” under the name of Margot B. “I trained to sing jazz in the 1940s style,” Bingham says. “This is totally different. I almost had to ignore what I’d learned before. I started living with Bessie Smith.” A former National Miss Black Teen, she appeared in the 2011 Broadway revival of “Rent,” stars in the Web TV series “In Between Men,” and has a couple of movie projects in the works.
