What can you tell us about Bridget Moynahan who is on Blue Bloods? What did she do before Blue Bloods, where is she from?

—B. Clapsaddle, Waynesboro, Pa.

Born in Binghamton, N.Y., and raised in Longmeadow, Mass., Moynahan, 42, began her career as a model with appearances in Vogue and Elle magazine, among others. Her work in commercials led her to study acting, and in 1999, she made the career change with a short-term part as Mr. Big’s wife in the TV series Sex and the City.

But her breakout role is considered to be that of Rachel in the hit film Coyote Ugly.

Moynahan has also appeared in the sci-fi thrillers Battle: Los Angeles and I, Robot, and the feature films Ramona and Beezus, Lord of War, The Recruit, Serendipity, Unknown, Noise, The Sum of All Fears, In The Weeds, Prey and Gray Matters.

Prior to her role as Erin on Blue Bloods, her only job as a series regular was in J.J. Abram’s short-lived drama Six Degrees.

This year, Moynahan returned to her modeling roots, shooting ads for Garnier’s Ultra-Lift Serum + Moisturizer skin treatment.

When not in New York, where Blue Bloods films, the single mother of one son with football star Tom Brady lives in Los Angeles.

Moynahan says being part of an ensemble show fits in well with single motherhood. “We were all looking at this show as, ‘It’s going to provide us with a life on top of a quality show. Quality life, quality show.’”
