Can you tell me whatever happened to Burl Ives, who did those great voices and songs in several Christmas specials?
¬óRon Clemens, Council Bluffs, Iowa

Ives is best known to TV audiences for his jovial vocals as Sam the Snowman in the classic Christmas special Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, which debuted in 1964 and has been rebroadcast around the holidays nearly every year since. He recorded many albums, and his folk ballads, such as “The Blue-Tail Fly,” sold millions over the decades. And his version of “A Holly Jolly Christmas” has become a perennial favorite. He retired from music and movies in the late 1980s and died in 1995 at 85.
