With her recent duties on the national debate stage, Crowley, CNN’s chief political correspondent and the anchor of the network’s Sunday series State of the Union With Candy Crowley, became the first female to host a presidential debate since 1992. The native of Kalamazoo, Mich., 53, grew up in Missouri and attended college in Virginia, where she graduated with a degree in English before beginning her career in broadcasting at a Washington, D.C. radio station. She worked for the Associated Press and NBC before leaving in 1987 to come aboard CNN, where she’s received several of broadcast journalism top awards.
