Chocolate, in any form, can make a delicious gift during the holidays or any time of the year. Edible gifts have mass appeal. Each can be customized to fit almost any budget or theme. When gifting chocolate, you have several options. From the classic to the whimsical, the perfect chocolate gift is waiting for you to present to your favorite chocolate lover.

Decadent brownies. From luscious cream cheese brownies to fun brownie pops, this treat will satisfy many chocolate cravings. For a unique gift, choose four different flavors of brownies. Consider gourmet blends such as white chocolate truffle or cappuccino chip. Select a festive holiday tin or box, and line with paper doilies. Add the brownies, and wrap the gift box with a large ribbon and bow. Brownie pops make for great party favors or individual treats. Wrap each in clear cellophane and tie with a ribbon. Group several together to make a brownie pop bouquet to give to someone special.

Chocolate-filled stocking. A holiday stocking filled with chocolate candies is a time machine. When a chocolate lover peers inside and sees an array of childhood favorites, he or she will feel like a little kid on Christmas morning! Fill a traditional or customized stocking with various chocolate bars. Don't forget to include milk and dark chocolate, as well as bars with nuts, caramel and even coconut. Other unique containers to fill include a fishing tackle box, a designer purse or an oversized mug.

Chocolate + wine = romance. Treat your sweetheart to an indulgent gift of chocolate and wine. Pair milk chocolate with merlot or dark chocolate with a ruby port. Lisa Shea at WineIntro.com recommends a cabernet sauvignon to accompany a dark chocolate or berry chocolates. White chocolate pairs best with chenin blancs and Rieslings, suggests Karen Hochman of The Nibble, a specialty food magazine. If you're going to gift champagne and chocolate, opt for champagne that's not so dry and pair it with milk chocolate.

Chocolate and coffee. Gourmet coffee and fine chocolate are a natural combination. Select a few individual bags of gourmet coffee and a set of matching coffee mugs. Choose an arrangement of dark chocolate truffles to be enjoyed with the coffee. This gift can be wrapped in clear cellophane and accented with a red bow or packaged in a reusable canvas tote.

Homemade cocoa mix. A rich, luscious cup of hot chocolate can be enjoyed by all ages. A basic cocoa mix combines milk powder, nondairy creamer, confectioners' sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder. The mix can be placed in a clear treat bag; opt for the ones that are triangular. Before sealing the bag, top with a handful of chocolate chips and miniature marshmallows. It also can be presented in a decorative glass container. Garnish the cocoa the same way with chocolate chips and miniature marshmallows.
