Christopher Plummer, the Canada-born star of stage, screen and TV, portrayed Capt. von Trapp opposite Julie Andrews in the 1965 musical movie. The 81-year-old actor has won two Tony Awards, two Emmys and was nominated for an Oscar in 2009 for his role as Leo Tolstoy in The Last Station. Among his other movie credits are The Insider, A Beautiful Mind, National Treasure and Murder by Decree, and the TV miniseries The Thorn Birds.
