How did pop singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat get her start in music?
—Matt Corley, Flagstaff, Ariz.
Caillat, 26, daughter of music producer Ken Caillat, began voice and piano lessons as a child. She got her professional start as a teenager when asked to sing on some tracks for a runway fashion show. That led to the recording of her song “Bubbly,” which created a sensation on MySpace and paved the way for her 2007 debut album, Coco. Caillat released her third album, All of You, in July. “I still incorporate all the styles that I love, but it’s a new chapter,” Caillat says. “The songs are more up-tempo on this record. It’s like a full-on summer album.”
