Cold War
DVD ($68.92)

Released for the first time on DVD to time with the 50th anniversary of the summer’s build-up to the Cuban Missile Crisis, this award-winning 1998 CNN TV mini-series examines nearly five decades of global history that led to the harrowing brink-of-war confrontation between the rival superpowers of the United States and the Soviet Union. British actor/director Kenneth Branagh narrates the 18-hour landmark documentary, compartmentalized into 24 episodes on six discs, which also comes with two bonus features: a 1953 U.S. propaganda film, “The Hoaxsters,” a dire warning about the “red threat” to the American way of life, and an extensive interview with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.
