Q I heard a country song by a new country singer named Cole Deggs. Is that his real name, or is it a joke?
—Nelson Williams, Chico, Calif.

Cole Deggs (pronounced cold eggs) is indeed the name of the singer who fronts the country band The Lonesome. The song you heard was likely the group's debut single, "I Want More," from its just-released self-titled CD. "I don't think my parents ever said my first and last names together until it was a done deal," says Deggs, 31, a native of Lake Jackson, Texas, who credits his odd-sounding name with ensuring he's never at a loss for small talk. "It's a real conversation piece."
