I enjoyed Connie Britton as Tami Taylor on Friday Night Lights, so I was surprised to see her in American Horror Story. What made her want to do a horror series?

—Reginald Arbuckle, Lexington, Ky.

The truth is Britton, 44, is afraid of horror movies, so she decided the best way to face her fear was to act in one. Thus, she took a role in the 2010 remake of Nightmare on Elm Street and stars as Vivien Harmon in the FX's American Horror Story.

"The Exorcist destroyed me. I was terrorized my entire childhood just from watching that," says the Boston-born actress.

"Coming from Friday Night Lights, it's really hard to know what to do after that. So I thought this would definitely be in every way completely different." Britton admits there are times when she comes home from work after spending a day with ghosts on the set that she has to sleep with the lights on. "I am not scared when I am shooting. I get scared when I get home at night," she admits. "When I think about our ghosts, they feel real."
