—Roxee C., Pennsylvania
Born Stephen Paul in Pittsburgh, Pa., Esteban's uncle bought him a guitar at age 8. He taught himself to play and was later taken under the wing of legendary classical guitarist Andres Segovia, who dubbed him Esteban during his five-year (1973-1978) study with the master in Spain. Esteban later graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, majoring in classical guitar and English literature. In 1980, Esteban was involved in a car accident and was unable to play guitar for nearly a decade. By 1990, however, through regimented exercise and his passion for music, he started to play again. Since then, he has released 13 CDs and two videos.
