I saw Faith Ford in the NBC-TV movie Field of Vision and she looked fabulous. I’m curious, because we’re both Southern gals—does she ever eat fried chicken and biscuits?
—Dixie Lee Wilkes, Montgomery, Ala.

Ford, 46, author of Cooking With Faith, is very health conscious. She was diagnosed with Graves’ Disease, an autoimmune disorder that leads to overactivity of the thyroid gland, in the late 1980s when she landed the role of Corky Sherwood on Murphy Brown. “I was like, ‘I don’t want to be unhealthy ever again in my life. I’m going to get this together,’” she says. “I started working out, exercising, doing weights, eating more protein, vegetables and fruits.”

Ford, who is married to personal trainer Campion Murphy, admits to giving into a craving for fried food occasionally. Her rule of thumb: “You should be able to count on one hand how many times you have fried food a month. That’s the way I do it.”
