Centered on a pair of police officers and set in the fictional Bronx 53rd precinct, Car 54 ran for two seasons (60 episodes) from 1961 to 1963. Ross, who played Gunther Toody, died in 1982 at 68 of a heart attack. Gwynne, who was Francis Muldoon, died in 1993 at 66 of pancreatic cancer. The first season of the series, created by Nat Hiken, makes its DVD debut April 12.
