—Misty Matthews, Newark, N.J.

Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon, 71, born Frederick Picariello Jr. in Revere, Mass., is working on an autobiography tentatively titled Where the Action Is and he continues to perform. He also draws celebrities as a hobby and sells his paintings. His 1962 signature hit, "Palisades Park," was written by game-show host Chuck Barris and is featured on the soundtrack of the film X-Men: First Class. "My wife, Jeanette, and I went to see the movie on opening day, and we were completely blown away when we discovered they didn't just use a small portion of the song," Cannon says. "They played the entire record."
