What has happened to pop singer Freddy Cannon, who had the hit "Palisades Park"?

—Misty Matthews, Newark, N.J.

Born Frederick Picariello Jr. in Revere, Mass., Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon, 72, continues to perform, and he's writing an autobiography, tentatively titled Where the Action Is. He also draws and sells his paintings of celebrities. "Palisades Park," his 1962 signature hit written by game-show host Chuck Barris, is featured on the soundtrack of the film X-Men: First Class. "My wife, Jeanette, and I went to see the movie, and we were completely blown away when we discovered they didn't just use a small portion of the song-they played the entire record, which is about two minutes."
