Frosted Banana Nut Bars Recipe

We’re suckers for just about anything with banana. “What to do with those bananas that turn brown before you can eat them? Here’s a quick-and-easy recipe to use those bananas that no one wants to eat anymore,” says Picka. “Once tasted, these bars go fast!” Yes, they do!

Bars:

1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
2 cups (3 large) mashed bananas
8 ounces sour cream
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Frosting:

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
2 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons milk

1. preheat oven to 375f. Grease a 15 x 10-inch baking pan.

2.To prepare bars, combine sugars and butter in a mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Blend in bananas, sour cream, eggs and vanilla. Blend in flour, cinnamon, salt and soda until well combined. Stir in nuts. pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. let cool.

3. To prepare frosting, place butter in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat until lightly browned and bubbly. Stir in powdered sugar and milk. Beat until creamy. Spread frosting over top of bars. Cut into 48 pieces. Makes 48 pieces.
