Now that it appears as if CSI: NY is coming to an end, I was wondering if Gary Sinise has any favorite episodes?

—Lou Black, Dayton, Ohio

Sinise, 56, who stars as Detective Mac Taylor, says there are three episodes that resonate with him. The first was the fall 2011 season opener, "Indelible," which paid homage to those lost and the heroes of Sept. 11, 2001.

"That was a personal episode because I had something to do with the creation of the memorial," the Blue Island, Ill.-born actor says. "I wanted it to be good, and I was happy with the way it turned out."

Another episode that makes Sinise's list is "Snow Day." In it, Detective Don Flack (Eddie Cahill) makes a big drug bust and locks the stash in the CSI offices, but the drug dealers want their merchandise back and break in at gunpoint. "It was a Die Hard-kind of episode where we are stuck in the building and the bad guys are here and we are trying to get around," Sinise recalls. "There was a lot of action and things were going off. I was a lot more like Bruce Willis in that, which was a lot of fun."

And last, but not least, Sinise ranks "Charge of This Post," the second season finale, among his favorites. In it, the CSIs are up against a bomber who uses random cell phone pages to detonate bombs across the city, and a member of the team is seriously injured during one of the explosions. "In that episode, we flash back and Mac talks about being a young Marine. If you know about the Beirut bombing in 1983 when we lost about 240 Marines in a terrorist bombing in Beirut, we 'planted' him in that unit so he experienced that and lost friends."

Despite the fact that Sinise took this trip down memory lane, don't give up on CSI: NY just yet. While it is true that CBS only ordered 18 episodes of the procedural drama this season, meaning that the last new episode airs in March, it won't be until May that the fate of the series will be announced.
