What became of the ’60s British band Gerry and the Pacemakers?

The quartet split in 1966, but not before they hit the Top 10 in the U.S. with “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying” and “Ferry Cross the Mersey.” Formed by Liverpool, England, native Gerry Marsden in 1959, and reformed with a new group of Pacemakers in 1974, they continue to perform about 150 shows a year. “I think the appeal of our music was simple songs with simple lyrics and simple melodies, so people could sing along to them,” says Marsden, 71, who lives in England.
