We have been great fans of Gordon Lightfoot for many years. What is he doing now?
—Kathy C., Texas
Singer and songwriter Gordon Lightfoot has a full slate of concert appearances scheduled this year, both in the United States and his native Canada. The 63-year-old has been a fixture in the world of music since he emerged on the Toronto folk scene in the early '60s. His long list of folk and adult contemporary hits includes classics such as If You Could Read My Mind, Sundown, and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. He has received five Grammy nominations, 17 Juno Awards, Canada's highest honor—The Governor General's Award—and several other awards. Late in 2001, he was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. Married and the father of six children, Lightfoot lives in Toronto. His greatest hits CD is scheduled to be released this month. The four CDs known collectively as The Final Four, representing the last of the singer's original albums not previously released on CD, are slated for a midyear release.
