Has Tim Matheson, who plays Dr. Brick Breeland on “Hart of Dixie,” been acting all of his life? I’m sure I saw him on TV shows as a teenager in the 1960s.

Born Tim Matthieson in Glendale, Calif., he began his career at 13 in 1961 on the TV series “Window on Main Street.” His multitude of TV credits over six decades includes “Leave It to Beaver,” “My Three Sons,” “The Quest,” “The Virginian” and “Tucker’s Witch,” and he was the original voice of cartoon adventurer Jonny Quest. His movie credits include “Magnum Force,” “1941,” “Fletch” and “Van Wilder,” but he’s best known as Otter in “National Lampoon’s Animal House” and as Vice President John Hoynes in TV’s “The West Wing.” The father of three, now 65, also directs TV and collects animation art, folk paintings and vintage posters.
