Susan Powell, from Elk City, Okla., was crowned Miss America in 1981. A trained opera singer, she has starred in operas from Seattle to New York City, as well as musicals such as Carousel and My Fair Lady. She began hosting Home Matters in 1993. She currently resides in New York City. Chris McWatt joined the show in 1998 to host the "Road Trip" segments of the show. Before he stepped in front of the camera, McWatt worked behind the scenes in television while in college as a cameraman, editor, and soundman. He later was an associate producer for The Oprah Winfrey Show. Born in St. Paul, Minn., Chris now lives in Los Angeles. Neither Powell nor McWatt is married or has children.
