Was there a different actress who played Danny’s wife in the pilot episode of ”Blue Bloods”?

When “Blue Bloods” returned for its third season, Amy Carlson, 44, who plays Danny’s wife Linda Reagan, had a stylish new haircut, which gave her a slightly different look, but the role has been hers since the pilot.

Prior to “Blue Bloods,” Carlson was best known for her roles as Alex Taylor on “Third Watch,” A.D.A. Kelly Gaffney on “Law & Order: Trial by Jury” and Katie Owen on “Peacemakers.”

Her other TV guest-star roles include “Fringe,” “Criminal Minds,” “NCIS,” “Law & Order,” “CSI” and “Falcone,” as well as a recurring role on “Get Real.” She has also appeared in the TV movies “Too Big To Fail,” “The Kidnapping,” “Drift,” “Franklin Charter” and “If These Walls Could Talk 2.”

Carlson was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 1998 in the outstanding supporting actress category for her role as Josephine Watts on “Another World.” The Glen Ellyn, Ill.-born actress attended school in Illinois until her family moved to Amman, Jordan, when she was 13, where her parents taught at the American Community School. Once back in the U.S., Carlson attended Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., graduating cum laude with a B.A. in East Asian history and a concentration in theater.

She moved back to Chicago, where she studied improv at the Improv Olympic and acting at The Actor’s Center until landing her role on “Another World.”

Carlson currently lives in New York City with her husband, Syd Butler, bassist of Les Savy Fav, and their two children.
