Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy ($44.99)

Director Martin Scorsese is much better known for his gritty, gristly, R-rated crime sagas, but this dreamlike tale of 1920s Paris, an orphan child who lives in a train station, and a mysterious secret key to the silent-movie past makes for a wonderful, family-friendly departure. Based on the 2007 illustrated children’s novel “The Invention of Hugo Cabret” by Brian Selznick and nominated for 11 Academy Awards, it’s a rush of wide-eyed childlike wonder and pure movie magic sure to charm kids and grownups alike. Special features include a making-of documentary, cast and crew interviews, a look at the “mechanical man” at the tender heart of the story, and a spotlight on pioneering French filmmaking genius Georges Méliès.
