The full title of the 1951 sci-fi flick is “The Thing From Another World.” Each make-up session took more than two hours to transform the 6-foot-7-inch Arness into the outer-space creature. The movie was shot about five years before he took on his iconic, career-defining TV role as Matt Dillon on “Gunsmoke” in 1955.
