What is James Drury of The Virginian doing today?
Lola Bishop, Granger, Wash.

Drury, 76, lives in Houston and makes appearances at Western events, festivals and autograph shows. The first two seasons of his 1962-1971 TV series were released recently on DVD. The Virginian was the first 90-minute Western on TV, and the schedule was grueling. “It was pretty rough. It took eight days to shoot an episode, and we worked five days a week,” said Drury, who at times shot scenes for three or four episodes in a single day. The actor appeared also in the movies Forbidden Planet, Pollyanna and Ride the High Country.
