James Garner, 85, was born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma. He and wife Lois have been married for 57 years, and he has a daughter, Greta, and stepdaughter, Kim. The star of the TV shows “Maverick” and “The Rockford Files” and the movies “The Great Escape,” “Support Your Local Sheriff,” “Murphy’s Romance” and “Space Cowboys” released his autobiography, “The Garner Files,” in 2011. His TV series “Nichols” (1971-72), one of Garner’s favorite projects that featured him as a motorcycle-riding Arizona sheriff who avoids gunplay, was released recently on DVD.
