“American’s Singing Sweethearts” made eight films together, from “Naughty Marietta” in 1935 to “I Married an Angel” in 1942. MacDonald, who was born in Philadelphia, Pa., died of a heart attack in 1965 at age 61. Eddy, a native of Providence, R.I., died of a cerebral hemorrhage in 1967 at age 65. All of their musicals are available on DVD.
