I would like to know if Jeannie and Royce Kendall are still singing and making recordings.
—Marvin E., Missouri
Sadly, Royce died May 22, 1998, at age 63 after suffering a stroke on tour. The pair scored 37 Billboard singles from 1970 until 1989, including their best-known hit, Heaven’s Just a Sin Away. Jeannie, 49, released a self-titled solo album last year that features her father on two songs. “We got just a few tracks done,” she says. “We were in the middle of doing our final vocals on some of them when he passed away.” Kendall, who is releasing a new CD soon, lives in Omaha, Ark. (pop. 165), with husband Mack Watkins, a musician who plays in Jeannie’s band.
