Alex Trebek recently won his third Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host of the quiz show, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary season. The native of Ontario, Canada, has appeared in more 70 movies and television shows, most often as himself. Trebek began his career with the Canadian Broadcasting Co. After more than 4,000 shows, Trebek says he’s still impressed with the fast pace of Jeopardy! and the contestants’ sophisticated level of knowledge. “The format is an exciting concept that challenges people to think quickly and make split-second decisions under pressure,” he says. He’s active with a number of educational organizations and charities, including World Vision and the USO. He also hosts the annual National Geographic Bee. Trebek owns and manages Creston Farms, a thoroughbred horse farm in central California. He and his wife, Jean, and their two children, Emily and Matthew, live in Studio City, Calif.
