Will Julianne Hough ever return to “Dancing With the Stars”?
—Gail Hauser, Lexington, Ky.
If you mean as a member of the cast, the answer is not in the foreseeable future. But that won’t keep her from returning to the show for an appearance to promote her other projects—like she did with “Rock of Ages” this past season—or, possibly, her upcoming album.
Right now, Hough, 24, is enjoying her career as an actress with two more movies on her dance card—pun intended. Already finished is the not-yet-titled film marking Diablo Cody’s directing debut; to be followed by “Safe Haven,” the latest film based on a Nicholas Sparks novel, in which she will star opposite Josh Duhamel.
“Dancing is just part of my life,” says the Sandy, Utah-born actress/singer/dancer. “When I don’t dance, I feel that there is something missing, because I am such a physical person who loves to express myself through dance. But I got to a point in my dancing, where I did so much hard work and I achieved a lot of great things, that I wanted to try something else and put that same kind of commitment that I did into my dancing into something that I was also passionate about. Now I am just excited to get better as an actress.”
The interesting thing is when Hough was initially invited to join “Dancing With the Stars” as a professional partner, her first instinct was to say no, because she wasn’t sure that joining a reality show would give her credibility. But these days, she appreciates the fact that it really helped launch her career—both as a singer and an actress.
And speaking of singing, in addition to the aforementioned movies, Hough has a follow-up album to her self-titled first album ready to be released. “I want to be able to give the right time and commitment it takes to promote an album, the way it does for a movie. So, when the time is right [it will be released],” she says.
