Katherine Kelly Lang is the ultimate "California girl"—at least for the Beach Boys—and has appeared as such in several of the group's music videos. Her life resembles that image. Lang, who turns 41 July 25, graduated from Beverly Hills High School and got into acting by chance. On the set of Skate Town USA, the producers saw her and cast her as the lead's girlfriend. She got an agent and soon was appearing on shows such as Happy Days, Masquerade, and Magnum P.I. Lang first broke into daytime television as Gretchen on The Young and the Restless. The actress is an athlete who loves the outdoors. She enjoys playing tennis, wind surfing, mountain biking, horseback riding, and competes in 25- and 50-mile cross-country endurance races. In 1996, she placed third in the International Desert Marathon. She competes throughout Southern California in races sponsored by the American Federation of Endurance Racing. Acting and athletics are in her genes. Her father is Keith Wegeman, an Olympic long-jump skier who went on to play television's Jolly Green Giant. Her mother, Judith Lang, is also an actress.
