Now that Kevin Bacon is the star of his own series, “The Following,” will his wife guest star on it?

Bacon, 54, says there are no immediate plans for wife Kyra Sedgwick, 47, to make an appearance on “The Following,” just as he never guest-starred on her series, “The Closer.”
“I think that us actually being on camera together is a delicate thing because when you’re so known as a couple, you don’t want to take people out of their experience of the show,” the Philadelphia, Pa.-born actor/director says. “We’ve done a few things together but we’ve been really careful about what those things are.”
Bacon did direct four episodes of “The Closer,” and it may turn out that in the future Sedgwick would like to return the favor.
“Right now, she’s shadowing a television director and is considering the idea of directing,” he says. “Frankly, I think she would be a fantastic director because so often I’ve worked on parts and talked to her about roles and read through things and she’s been incredibly helpful and perceptive in terms of giving me suggestions. I really love her, certainly, as a director.”
It is also thanks to his wife that Bacon had a good idea of what he was getting into when he agreed to do the psychological drama, which required him to sign a six-year contract.
“That’s daunting but we’ll see,” says Bacon, who has the advantage of shooting “The Following” in New York City, where he lives. “I get some sleep. When I compare it to Kyra, the truth is that she was in almost every scene and she talks so much. The more she talked, the more they wrote. In some ways it’s easier for me. My thing is a little more physical, but I do get a couple of days off when they go to the cold house, or when the bad guys work, a lot of times I’m not there.”
