I would like to know more about Kirsten Gum, host of the Travel Channel’s Cash and Treasure.
—Kenneth Cowls, Ottumwa, Iowa
Know this: Gum loves her job, searching the world for precious stones and metals. “I get to travel on someone else’s dime, dig up gems and actually hold a $30,000 piece of gold in my hand,” she says. “There have been episodes where I’ve dressed up in over a million dollars in jewels!” The Alaska-born Gum describes herself as more of a tomboy than a girly-girl. “I wasn’t into jewelry before this show,” she says. “But now I really know where it comes from.” Gum got her start in local TV news and now lives on the West Coast. She travels three weeks out of each month for the show, but loves coming home to California sunshine. “I’m an outdoor girl.”
