Wilcox, 62, who served as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam, was a highly skilled motorcyclist who performed some of his own stunts on the NBC series from 1977 to 1982. He points out that “unlike my co-star Eric Estrada, I never had any wipeouts on the bike while filming.” In its fifth season, Wilcox left the hit show and formed his own TV production company, and he later created a pharmaceutical company. He is married, has five children and lives in California, where he is CEO of a mining and energy business.
