What happened to the cast of Little House on the Prairie?
—Jenny C., Pennsylvania
The show had too many cast members to list everyone, but here's a rundown of some of the main players. Patriarch Michael Landon lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 1991 at the age of 54. After Little House, he starred as the angel Jonathan for four and a half seasons in Highway to Heaven. Mom Karen Grassle, 58, is active in the theater, appearing in touring productions of Wit and Driving Miss Daisy last year. Big sister Mary, played by Melissa Sue Anderson, appeared in a number of television and feature films, but is now primarily a stay-at-home mom to Piper and Griffin in Los Angeles, where she lives with husband Michael Sloan. Actress Melissa Gilbert, who has appeared in numerous television movies and a few feature films, played the young heroine, Laura. Gilbert was elected president of the Screen Actors Guild in March. She's married to actor Bruce Boxleitner, and their combination household includes their son, Michael (named for Michael Landon), and her son and his two sons from previous marriages. Alison Arngrim, who played Laura's nemesis, Nellie Oleson, is an AIDS activist and tours doing her standup comedy.
