Live At Montreux
Canned Heat/Average White Band/Rockpile
CDs ($13.98 each)

Take a trip in the time machine back to the 1970s with these new releases from Eagle Rock Entertainment, each of which captures a noteworthy band of the era in its performance prime at Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival. California-based Canned Heat got its national blues-n-boogie spotlight at Woodstock with "On The Road Again" and "Goin' Up The Country." The Scottish Average White Band "Cut The Cake" then asked us to "Pick Up The Pieces." And Rockpile, a British collaboration between Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds, would go on in the '80s to become FM-radio alt-darlings with the songs "I Knew The Bride," "Girls Talk," "Queen Of Hearts" and "Crawling From The Wreckage." Together or separately, these live CDs offer tasty snapshots of three acts struttin' their stuff in front of European audiences that clearly loved what they were seeing and hearing.
