In 2008, Petty, 49, who was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and graduated from high school in Sioux City, Iowa, wrote and directed the movie “The Poker House,” starring Jennifer Lawrence. Since starring in “League” in 1992, Petty has appeared in the “Free Willy,” “Tank Girl,” “Prey for Rock & Roll” and “In the Army Now” and guest-starred on the TV shows “House,” “Prison Break,” “The Cleaner” and “Shameless.” She also supplied the TV voices of super-villain Livewire on “Superman” and “The New Batman Adventures.”
