Is it true that Mark Valley from Harry's Law has a military background?

Valley, 47, a native of Ogdensburg, N.Y, graduated in 1987 from the U.S. Military Academy, after which he did a tour of duty in Berlin and saw action in Operation Desert Storm. The actor, who starred on the TV series Boston Legal and Human Target before getting the role of Oliver Richard on Harry's Law, sees some similarities between taking orders in the military and taking orders as an actor. "I have chosen a profession where there's somebody else telling me what to say, how to say it, what to wear and when to do it. So there are quite a few parallels," he says.
