Betty Owens, Columbus, Miss.

Wilson, who was born in Greenville, Miss., performs concerts and has nearly completed a yet-untitled album that she describes as the one she has been preparing to make all her life. “It is music that was written for me, about my journey in life,” she explains. The singer, now 66, moved to Las Vegas in 1990 to raise her four children. Wilson says she has lived a “Cinderella life” with many highlights, including command performances for the Queen Mother, Prince Charles and Princess Margaret. “But the most wonderful thing in my life was having my children.”
